IMPACT Report 2023-2024

Escuela Cooperativa served 44 local Sayulita families during the 2023/2024 school year. At the end of the year, Board members met with the families of students who graduated in July and sent written surveys to alumni families. The teachers also reported on the achievements of the 22 graduates. We are proud of our students and teachers and want to share the results with you. You will see how our students have met or exceeded expectations for their age level. We send them forward on their path to lifelong learning!

Alumni families told us...

After Escuela, my daughter felt excited and confident about going to school and wanting to learn.

I liked that he was submersed in Mexican culture and language.

I felt an integration into the town of Sayulita. Being able to get to know my neighbors makes you more committed to the community.

Our graduating families told us...

Unlike kids in primary school who are happy when school is closed these kids are sad when school closes.

It feels like a complete education with yoga, dance and music being part of the week.

It felt like a real community, and my child didn't want to leave at the end of the day.

Our teachers, Martha and Lupita met with all families to share their children's achievements throughout the year. The following is representative of what our five-year old graduates have accomplished.

100% identify colors and shapes; write their name; count from 1-10, and read stories with the help of images.

80% demonstrate respectful and sharing behavior, autonomy, creativity and empathy toward others; and express themselves clearly.

80% identify all letters of the alphabet and vowels; and routinely practice good hygiene.

67% know and respect norms and rules

60% understand addition/subtraction

40% count from 1-100 and identify 1-50 in writing.

**One student can count to1000!!

Congratulations to our class of 2024!!

We are excited to create more opportunities for local families, but we need your help.

Please join us to support local Sayulita families. Our tuition-free school is only possible through individuals like you who believe that early access to education and creating a family-based community around school is significant. You can support one child for a year with a donation of $1800 USD. Please visit our website at https://www.escuelasayulita.org to make a donation or set up a recurring monthly donation. For $150 USD a month, you are sponsoring a child for one year. Escuela is a not-for-profit organization (EIN 81-5475752) and all donations are tax deductible.

La Escuela Cooperativa de Sayulita is a collaboration of local families and educators to create an innovative pre-school for 3-5 year old children.

La Escuela builds on the natural curiosity of our students to develop a love of learning. We follow a Montessori-style approach: to help children learn independently, retaining the curiosity, creativity and intelligence with which they were born.

Each classroom is considered the “children’s house.” The teachers prepare and maintain the physical, intellectual, and social/emotional environment within which the children will work and play. This all works together to create an environment where the kids, parents and staff feel connected and invested.
